“Give me five minutes and I can predict your life success. I can help you understand why you do what you do by identifying your Core Motive.” – Dr. Taylor Hartman

I was introduced to the Color Code Personality Assessment in 2012 and have personally seen how you can improve your relationships, communication and behavior. On the cover of Dr. Hartman’s book The People CODE revised version in 2007 from the original written in 1987 it asks these questions:

Have you ever wondered why…
  • People act the way they do?
  • You and your spouse can’t get along?
  • Your boss is so difficult?
  • Your kids just won’t listen to you?
  • You are the way you are?

Dr. Hartman is an author, psychologist and leadership coach. He teaches that it’s all about your innate motive. He introduces you to the concept of Motive for analyzing your own innate personality as well as that of those around you. With that knowledge you have the ability to improve your personal and professional relationships.

The system for segmentation into Motive types is denoted by color:

Red (power wielders)
Blue (do-gooders)
White (peacekeepers)
Yellow (fun lovers).

His book and workshop training explains how to ensure that all of the possible alliances between the colors function at “optimum effectiveness”.

As a Red / Blue I learned that my strengths include being motivated, visionary, proactive, decisive, assertive, action-oriented, determined, a leader, focused and powerful. But I also have limitations including being relentless, always right, critical of others, demanding, argumentative, overly aggressive and intimidating. Whew! Here is the most important part: knowing your limitations does not mean you have an excuse to behave that way. Just imagine how unbearable a person I would be to be around if I behaved based on those limitations.

“If you struggle with self-acceptance and have questions about why you and others act the way you do,” Dr. Hartman’s teaching can help you “maximize your life success by improving your day-to-day relationships.”
